Volunteers are a continual need at the Wichita Children's Home. Your talents can be used to fill a variety of roles either as an individual or in groups. And, since the Home is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, volunteers are utilized around the clock, allowing you to select the time best suited for you. To review volunteer requirements, click here. As a volunteer, you can maintain a consistent schedule or choose a flexible one, depending on your availability. Areas include: Helping Hand, Mom's Day Out, Cooking Instructor, Educational Assistant, Donation Sorter, Gardener, Child Care Provider, and School Transportation. Work directly with children ages 13 through 17 years by providing one on one attention through activities such as playing games, outdoor activities and assisting with craft projects.
Availability: Mornings, evenings and weekends. Flexible schedule.
Contact UsProvide care for infants and toddlers while their Foster Parents attend a monthly luncheon.
Availability: Fourth Monday of each month from: 12:30pm – 2:30pm.
Contact UsBe a role model for youth between the ages of 16 and 22 years living in our BRIDGES Independent Living Program by cooking a meal with residents. Youth will learn food preparation, meal planning and basic cooking skills. Food is provided by WCH. Volunteers are encouraged to make meal suggestions.
Availability: Evenings and Sundays
Contact UsAssist BRIDGES Independent Living residents with homework and/or help youth as they prepare for GED testing by providing one on one instruction under the guidance of a USD 259 instructor. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday 4pm-8pm.
Note: Basic computer skills needed.
Availability: Weekday afternoons and evenings
Sort and distribute used donations to be distributed to the children.
Note: Some lifting required.
Availability: Flexible Schedule
Help maintain gardens and landscaping by weeding, trimming bushes, and planting flowers. WCH to supply all gardening materials.

Contact UsProvide child care for our teen mothers and new admissions. This is a perfect opportunity for small groups as well as individuals.
Note: Minimum two hour shift required.
Availability: Mondays 3:30pm – 5:30pm and/or As Needed/On Call
Drivers needed to transport BRIDGES, Phase 2 youth to and from school.
Availability: Monday through Friday from 7am–9am or 3pm-5pm.
